Your Representatives.. your Council The Parish Council is the third tier of local government, after the County Council and the District Council, but it is a non-political body. It is at the "grass roots" and is in the best position to represent the views of the local community. Bilsthorpe Parish Council are your elected body who are voted in to represent the views of Bilsthorpe. Parish council meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month, commencing 7:15 pm in the village hall on Cross street. Minutes and agendas from each meeting are made available to members of the public upon request and are displayed in both Parish notice boards. There are over 8,700 parish and town councils representing around 16 million people across England. They form the most local level of government and cover many rural and urban areas. Bilsthorpe Parish Council has an overall responsibility for the well-being of our local community.
